Re-generating Articles

How to generate a new version of an article with a different style or settings.

Overview

Sometimes you will want a second version of an article:

  • A different writing style (for example, Casual Blog instead of News).
  • A more technical or more introductory tone.
  • A different language or updated custom instructions.

Right now, VidToArticle does not have a one-click "Re-generate" button in the My Articles list. Instead, you re-generate by running the original video through the Generate Article flow again.

1. Find the article you want to change

  1. Go to My Articles in the app.
  2. Use search and filters to locate the article you want to revise.
  3. Open it to review:
    • The original video title.
    • The writing style that was used.
    • Any custom prompt you may have added.

You can keep this tab open as a reference while you generate a new version.

2. Open the Generate Article page

  1. In the sidebar, click Generate Article.
  2. You will see the familiar form with fields for:
    • YouTube URL
    • Article Style
    • Language
    • Optional Custom Instructions (on supported plans)

If needed, you can copy the YouTube URL from your browser or notes again.

3. Paste the same YouTube URL

  1. Paste the same video URL that you used for the original article.
  2. Confirm the video information looks correct.

Using the same source video ensures that both versions are based on identical content.

4. Choose a new style or language

  1. Open the Article Style dropdown.
  2. Select a different style from the list (for example, switch from News to Casual Blog).
  3. Optionally change the Output Language if you want a translation.
  4. If your plan allows, update the Custom Instructions to give more specific guidance.

For a deeper explanation of each style, see Understanding Writing Styles and Choosing the Right Writing Style.

5. Generate the new version

  1. Click Generate Article.
  2. Wait for the article to be generated (typically 30–120 seconds, depending on video length).
  3. Review the new article:
    • Check headings and structure.
    • Compare tone against your original version.

If the result is still not quite right, you can adjust style or instructions again and re-run.

6. Managing multiple versions in My Articles

Each time you re-generate, VidToArticle creates a separate article entry in My Articles. To stay organized:

  • Use clear titles or naming conventions to distinguish versions.
  • Use the Style filter to quickly find all versions in a specific tone.
  • Delete older versions you no longer need to keep your history clean.

7. When to re-generate vs. edit manually

Re-generating is most helpful when you want:

  • A different overall tone, structure, or audience level.
  • A version in a different language.

If you only need small tweaks (fixing typos, adding a paragraph, etc.), it is often faster to:

  1. Download the article as Markdown or PDF (see Downloading as Markdown & PDF).
  2. Edit it directly in your editor or CMS.

Use whichever approach fits your workflow best.
